Hello friend(s),
Thank you for your support of those in need, especially during the pandemic. I’m writing to tell you about ReWA and invite you to their virtual live Gala on October 23, 2021. ReWA supports refugees and immigrants, many of whom are referred to them by Washington and King County organizations like IRC that first receive the refugees. ReWA is currently partnering with various Afghan organizations in the area to receive refugees who fled Kabul in August.
The Gala will be from 7pm to 7.30pm (PST) on October 23 on their virtual live Remo platform. Yes, just 30 minutes of your time when you and any of your friends – even global – can connect from the comfort of your couch or kitchen table. I hope you’ll feel free to circulate this invitation far and wide. You can also stretch to 45 minutes or an hour and mingle with all gala guests before and after the live program starts.
Register Here – do let me know that you have done so, so that I can count you as one of my “guests”; ReWA will share the event platform link as the date approaches
ReWA’s 2020 Annual Report Here – highlighting ReWA’s programs, services and impact
ReWA’s Services Here Bringing these cultures together as they all try to find their place in this country is one of the benefits of their work, I believe.
Meet 2021’s amazing guest speakers!
Aneelah Afzali: Aneelah is an Afghan-American attorney who left her legal career to pursue service. As the Executive Director of the American Muslim Empowerment Network at the Muslim Association of Puget Sound (MAPS-AMEN), she is a well-known community activist, interfaith leader, and justice advocate, who is currently coordinating efforts to respond to the incoming Afghan refugees.
Senator Joe Nguyen: Senator Joe Nguyen (34th District) represents West Seattle in the state legislature. His experiences growing up in White Center and Burien as the son of Vietnamese refugees informs much of his service today as he advocates for historically underrepresented communities and prioritizes criminal justice reform, environmental health and progressive tax reform.
On behalf of the women, girls and families of ReWA, I hope to see you on the 23rd and thank you!
