Volunteer Opportunities at the Refugee Women’s Alliance
Childcare assistant, early childhood education
center
Help the children of refugees and immigrants feel comfortable
in a pre-school situation. Encourage children and parents to participate
in planned activities. Supervise children at play indoors and outdoors.
Help lead planned activities and lessons.
Qualifications:
- Desire to work with and help children and parents from diverse
cultures and backgrounds
- Patience, flexibility, and a sense of humor
- Some experience working with children
- Ability to work at least one morning, afternoon, or evening
per week in the following time-spots:
- Mornings: Monday to Thursday, 9:00 am to noon
- Afternoons: Monday to Thursday, 1:00 to 3:00 pm
- Evenings: Tuesday and Thursday, 6:00 to 8:00 pm
- Willingness to make a six-month commitment to the program
- Ability to pass a Washington State Patrol background check
Responsibilities:
- Attend quarterly volunteer orientations and in-service trainings
- Work with volunteer coordinator, pre-school coordinator, staff
and other volunteers
- Record the number of hours spent helping each quarter
