Childcare Assistant
Early childhood education center

Help the children of refugees and immigrants feel comfortable in a pre-school situation. Encourage children and parents to participate in planned activities. Supervise children at play indoors and outdoors. Help lead planned activities and lessons.

Qualifications:

  • Desire to work with and help children and parents from diverse cultures and backgrounds
  • Patience, flexibility, and a sense of humor
  • Some experience working with children
  • Ability to work at least one morning, afternoon, or evening per week in the following time-spots:
    • Mornings: Monday to Thursday, 9:00 am to noon
    • Afternoons: Monday to Thursday, 1:00 to 3:00 pm
    • Evenings: Tuesday and Thursday, 6:00 to 8:00 pm
  • Willingness to make a six-month commitment to the program
  • Ability to pass a Washington State Patrol background check

Responsibilities:

  • Attend quarterly volunteer orientations and in-service training
  • Work with volunteer coordinator, pre-school coordinator, staff and other volunteers
  • Record the number of hours spent helping each quarter
