DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES PROGRAM
|
Did you know...? |
|
In 2003, ReWA served 83 families with
special needs children through our Developmental Disabilities Program. |
|
Families who have children with developmental disabilities
face incredible emotional and practical challenges.
The struggle to identify health and human services that are
culturally and linguistically competent are multiplies for families
with special needs children. The Developmental Disability
Program empowers families to secure the services and support they
need and deserve to become fully participating members of the
community.
Our Family Advocates provide individualized family needs assessments
and assist families with resources and support services such as
Department of Health and Human Services-division of Developmental
Disabilities, respite care and Medicaid personal care, Social Security
Administration, special education programs through public schools,
legal services and health care providers.
Additional services include:
- Support groups and advocacy for parents with special needs
children.
- Information and referral to a variety of community service
providers, including the Department of Vocational Rehabilitation-Employment
Program.
- Home visits to homebound families.
