Refugee Women’s
Alliance (ReWA) is a multi-ethnic, community-based organization that
provides comprehensive services to refugee and immigrant women and
families in the Puget Sound area. ReWA, formerly Southeast Asian
Women's Alliance, was founded
in 1985 by a group of successfully resettled women who sought to provide
newly-arrived women with services not offered by other agencies.
ReWA has grown from a small, informal alliance of concerned refugee
women to one of the largest private nonprofit refugee and immigrant service
providers in the Puget Sound area. ReWA's comprehensive services were
developed to respond to the complex needs of refugee and immigrant women
and families and have the ultimate goal of making a long-lasting impact
on their lives. ReWA's programs have received national recognition and,
in 1999, ReWA was the first organization to receive the Distinguished
Citizen Award for Human Rights.

ReWA
currently operates from five sites in King County. The main office, domestic violence office,
and the Rainier Community Center office are located in Southeast Seattle, and the
South King County office is located in the city of SeaTac. Services are
also offered at New Holly Career Development Center.
ReWA has a broad base of funding, including federal and local governments,
United Way, and private foundations and corporations. From its inception,
the success of ReWA has been due in large part to the contributions of
individual donors who have given generously in support of ReWA's mission
and services.
